Say hello to Monkey Haven, the Island’s gold award-winning primate rescue centre that makes animals and people happy. It’s a place to relax, have fun and meet some fascinating creatures.

Monkey Haven specialises in primate care and is home to over 19 different species, including the singing Lar gibbons, Siamangs and Mueller’s gibbons, plus Mangabeys, Colobus monkeys, Javan langurs, critically endangered Cotton-top tamarins and many more. It’s not just monkeys you’ll see – visit the rescued birds of prey, reptiles and minibeast, meet the meerkat mob, and get up close to a snake or an owl.

We love showing school parties around and it’s our mission to ensure that you have lots of fun, while learning all about the serious work that we do helping animals in crisis. We are also keen to raise awareness of the plight of animals in the wild, facing threats including deforestation, poaching and the illegal pet trade.

We can offer you a free tour and a ‘Meet the Owls and Reptiles’ talk or focus on your particular interests. Topics that we could cover include conservation, rain forests, evolution and animal behavior. You can let us know any preferences before your visit and we are always happy to talk through your ideas. School parties have exclusive access to our Education Lodge, which acts as your classroom for the day giving you somewhere to store your bags.

We have great facilities that are accessible for all, including a tea room, gift shop and a play area. There is also a fun free App, where children can follow trails, collect virtual bananas and see behind the scenes scanning our secret hotspots. Teachers are welcome to visit before hand to conduct their own Risk Assessments or we can provide you with our own.

If you have any questions before your visit, please get in touch. We look forward to seeing you soon!

The children at Dover Park Primary School had a great day. Lilymae took us on a tour and gave us an absolutely amazing talk about owls. I was so impressed with how informative she was and how she adapted her language so it was age appropriate for the children. She was so accommodating and made us feel really welcome. I will definitely be booking again and just wanted to say a massive thank you
