At The D-Day Story in Portsmouth students will be inspired by the interactive displays and personal stories of those whose lives were changed by the Second World War.
Explore a real Landing Craft Tank, the huge 60-metre-long vessel that’s a unique survivor of D-Day and has a fascinating post-war history. You can also discover the Overlord Embroidery, a hand-stitched work of art that’s longer than the Bayeux Tapestry and is based on paintings hanging in the Pentagon. Plus, see up close artefacts from the operation and hear the personal testimonies of those who took part.

The D-Day Story also has a great range of learning resources that were developed by education specialists, as well as many interactive elements for pupils to explore all around the museum – from a tiny pencil ‘that started the invasion’ to the huge Landing Craft Tank you can walk onboard.
