Sample Itineraries

You may select either itinerary, whichever you prefer, or an alternative option is to create your own itinerary from an extensive list provided.

The advantage of having so many historical and scientific sites on the Isle of Wight makes it quite unique because travelling times to venues are kept to the minimum, so that the maximum amount of time can be spent at your chosen venues.

Early Season - April

MONDAY TO FRIDAY

Early Season Visits – April

Monday

  • Morning – Coach will leave school and travel to Portsmouth to visit Portsmouth Dockyards to see either HMS Victory, HMS Warrior or the Mary Rose Exhibition.

  • Afternoon – Board the Wightlink ferry for a 40 min crossing of the Solent arriving at the hotel in time for dinner.

  • Evening – “Holly” the story teller will enchant you at the hotel with one of her exciting smuggling stories.

Tuesday

  • Morning – A morning at Tapnell Farm in Yarmouth, enjoying the play park and animals talks. Lunch on site.

  • Afternoon – Fossil hunting at Dinosaur Isle to include hands on fossil hunting, a classroom talk and museum visit.

  • Evening – Shanklin Chine with coastal walk or Crazy Golf in Sandown or Shanklin.

Wednesday

  • Morning – A morning at Alum Bay to include a glass demonstration and sweet making demonstration and explore the geological feature of coloured.

  • Afternoon – A visit to Bembridge Lifeboat Station with a talk from the RNLI.

  • Evening – Free time to enjoy the beach / local area.

Thursday

  • Morning – IOW Steam Railway at Havenstreet with Train ride and AV Presentation. Lunch on site.

  • Afternoon – Visit to Osborne House or Carisbrooke Castle (to be booked direct by school).

  • Evening – Professional disco can be arranged at the hotel at an additional cost.

Friday

  • Morning – Depart the hotel at 10.00am to board the Wightlink ferry homeward bound.

From May to Late July

Monday

  • Morning – Coach will leave school and travel to Portsmouth.
  • Afternoon – Visit the D.Day Museum at Southsea. Board the Wightlink ferry for a 40 min crossing of the Solent. Arriving at the hotel in time for dinner.
  • Evening –  Free time for beach or walk.

Tuesday

  • Morning – Whippingham Church followed by Osborne House (to be arranged by schools). Lunch in the grounds.
  • Afternoon – Blackgang Chine to include rides.
  • Evening – Free time for Beach.

Wednesday

  • Morning – A morning at Amazon World. Lunch on site.
  • Afternoon – Alum Bay (Needles). Exploration of geological features and coloured sands. Glass making demo.
  • Evening – Theatre show at Shanklin (optional).

Thursday

  • Morning – Carisbrooke Castle with lunch in the grounds (To be arranged by schools).
  • Morning – Shanklin Chine and Coastal Walk.
  • Morning – Disco at Hotel at an additional cost.

Friday

  • Morning – Godshill Model Village before boarding the ferry. Lunch on the ferry. Homeward Journey.

WEEKEND - FRIDAY TO MONDAY

From May to Late July

Friday

  • Morning – Coach to leave school and travel to Portsmouth. A visit to Spinnaker Tower or D.Day Museum.

  • Afternoon – Wightlink ferry to the IOW. Settle into Hotel.

  • Evening – Free time to visit the beach or coastal walk.

Saturday

  • Morning – Day at Blackgang Chine including all onsite rides.

  • Evening – Glory Art Glass in Sandown for glass making demonstration.

Sunday

  • Morning – Wildheart Animal Sanctuary in Sandown.

  • Afternoon – Model Village in Godshill.

  • Evening – Professional disco at extra charge, or sandcastle competition at local beach.

Monday

  • Morning – Visit to Osborne House or Carisbrooke Castle (to be booked by school).

  • Afternoon – Wightlink ferry and travel back to school.

September to October

MONDAY TO FRIDAY

September to October

Monday

  • Morning – Coach to leave school and travel to Portsmouth.
  • Afternoon – Wightlink ferry to the IOW. Visit to Monkey Haven in Newport.
  • Evening – Free time for beach or coastal walk.

Tuesday

  • Morning – Alum Bay for a sweet or glass making demonstration. Visit to the sand shop.
  • Afternoon – Tapnell Farm play park and animal encounter.
  • Evening – One game of bowling at Ryde Super Bowl.

Wednesady

  • Morning – Brading Roman Villa with tile coaster making experience.
  • Afternoon – Visit to Osborne House or Carisbrooke Castle (to be booked by school).
  • Evening -Indoor Crazy Golf at Caddy Shack in Shanklin.

Thursday

  • Morning – Fossil Hunting with Island Gems and Team.
  • Morning – IOW Donkey Sanctuary for a self led visit.
  • Morning – Beach activities and sand castle competition.

Friday

  • Morning – Depart Island and travel back to school.
